I didn't know what to call this so I drew this ridiculous cover and called it a thing
But seriously, I think I'm more proud of this stuff than I have been of any of my music in a long time. Things I'm doing differently:
All gameboy. I like DS-10 a lot, but the more I use LSDJ, the less I want to go back to DS-10's workflow. I'm challenging myself to make the sounds I would have made on DS-10 in LSDJ and it's making me a lot more creative and that's good.
All mono. No more doing dumb things with stereo since I don't think I've found any way to make that sound good on the gameboy and I don't think this kind of music even really needs to be stereo.
This entire album uses a variation of this noise channel kick www.youtube.com/watch?v=fzEmh08Ls8I . I really like how it sounds and having the whole PU1 channel open for other things is pretty big. I'm not sure it's bassy enough for me to use all the time, but I think it really worked in this stuff.
